Zola Books

Zola Books is a eBook retailer disrupting the eBook business by layering retail onto a social network and empowering all the players that add value to eBook discovery, purchase, reading, sharing and enjoying.

Our product is in beta and we are growing our business every day; we are actively coding, testing, deploying and connecting with customers.

We also have fun, play when we can, and have parties every few months as well. There's beer in the fridge, we play music most of the time, and overall it's pretty chill.

We have more space than we need right now, so Pivotdesk seems like the perfect way for us to find some people who need space. Here's more about the space...

We are on the second floor with windows facing North on 38th street between 7th and 8th avenues. Fantastic for subway access and midtown meetings. Our second floor position and old-school massive windows mean we have traffic and street noise, so folks who need silence may find this a challenge. Our space is wide open - no cubes, no conference room, and you would be located in some of the open space near the big windows, and you could organize your desks as you pleased. We have collaboration and meetings happening often, but we also have long periods of silence with just music playing; some folks wear headphones to focus, others are on the phone. We have a new HVAC system so summertime A/C is good quality. Two bathrooms, a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, wi-fi (of course), and a couple of conference tables for laying out work and for meetings, along with some comfy couches and a bean bag and rocking chair. The real beauty of this space is the cool people that work here and the amazing midtown location and access to Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, and pretty much every train that runs to Times Square. Folks begin to show up at 9 and are here til 9 or 10 most nights, with most people filtering out from 6 - 7 pm. We do occasionally have people work on Saturdays and Sundays as well, but those days are much more quiet.

Garbage gets dealt with every day, and the whole space gets cleaned top to bottom every two weeks.

Zola Books is an eBook retailer embedded in a social network with three kinds of recommendations - algorithmic, social, and curated. Our cross-platform "social reader" allows customers to discover, read and share eBooks with friends.
